The Hall of First Promises
The corridor suddenly opens onto a space whose scale comes as a surprise.
You cross the threshold… and the world changes.
Behind you, the discreet, hushed passage already feels distant. Ahead of you unfolds the entrance hall.
Great hall is an understatement.
The space rises, stretches, breathes. Figures move freely, converse, settle in, cross the room in a continuous, fluid motion. The place is lively, vibrant… and yet, almost silent. Voices seem to fade before becoming intrusive, as though every conversation naturally found its proper place.
Amelyana slows her pace slightly at your side, giving you time to absorb the atmosphere.
Light flows from star-shaped chandeliers suspended high above. They cast a gentle glow, scattered with subtle reflections, never harsh. Here, nothing dazzles. Everything reassures.
— This is often where everything begins, Amelyana murmurs.
The decor is elegant and refined, without the slightest hint of ostentation. Every element appears chosen to welcome rather than to impress. Clusters of armchairs and sofas form small refuges, each protected by discreet magical fields that soften sound. One may converse freely, read undisturbed, or simply wait while observing this living microcosm.
A small café naturally draws the eye. Charming, almost whimsical, it blends seamlessly into the architecture. Hot drinks are served there, along with delicate pastries whose aromas drift softly through the air. Some visitors settle in for a moment; others linger longer, as though they have already decided not to hurry.
Green plants and flowering arrangements adorn the hall, vibrant in every season. Certain magical flowers emit faint, colored lights that subtly shift throughout the day. Farther on, three-dimensional animated paintings depict living scenes—landscapes, fragments of stories, familiar or fantastical creatures. Children and adults alike pause before them with equal wonder, regardless of rank or origin.
Amelyana follows your gaze.
— The manor is ancient, she says. Very ancient.
— And yet…
— Yes.
She smiles softly.
— Kageyori wanted everything it has to offer to be felt already here. That from the very first step, one would understand they had entered a place designed to welcome as much as to reveal.
She pauses, allowing silence to reclaim its place.
— He is its architect. Every detail was conceived so that one might immediately feel at ease… while sensing that what follows holds even greater wonders.
Her eyes travel across the hall with quiet affection.
— As for the interior, she adds with a light laugh, he entrusted the decoration to me. I hope you will feel comfortable here.
The hall then reveals its true nature: not merely a place of passage, but a threshold in itself. A space where one may linger. Or choose to go farther.
